Saptarshi Kar

Saptarshi Kar is a logistics and supply-chain professional, educator and entrepreneur whose work spans international trade, customs, supply-chain operations, technology adoption and professional education. He has more than sixteen years of experience across logistics, customs regulations, international trade and supply-chain management and serves as a Director of Om Saptarshi International Service (P) Ltd. His work has included freight forwarding, customs and trade compliance, contract logistics, specialised logistics, operational transformation and adoption of digital and AI-enabled tools within logistics businesses. Through academic appointments and industry teaching engagements, he has trained more than 350 students and working professionals in logistics, customs, EXIM, supply chain and related fields. Saptarshi holds an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a BSc in Economics (Honours) from Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Law from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT), an F-Card holder under India's Customs Broker Licensing framework, and has undertaken formal training in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning using Python through the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). Alongside industry practice, he is actively engaged in higher education. He serves as Visiting Faculty at Amity University, Kolkata, teaching Digital Technologies in Logistics and Supply Chain, and at Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, contributing to its Certificate Course on Customs, Import-Export, Logistics & Global Supply Chain. His previous teaching engagements include Netaji Subhas Open University and Scottish Church College. His academic and professional interests extend across digital transformation, artificial intelligence in supply chains, international trade, sustainability, economic development and professional capability building. He has contributed to research and publications concerning international trade and non-tariff barriers and is a co-author of a forthcoming book chapter on digital and AI-driven solutions for circular food supply chains. As Co-founder and Chairman of Om Saptarshi Academy, he leads its institutional vision: connecting industry practice, academic learning, technology and public knowledge to develop professionals capable of understanding and solving real-world supply-chain and cross-disciplinary challenges.
